Vendela is one of our star-waiters, working at a Clarion Collection Hotel. She works extra shifts and supports with banquet serving, Food & Beverage orders for the bar and restaurant and helps out at the Front Office. She likes Strawberry for the great career opportunities within the Group.
Tell us why you enjoy working at Strawberry?
That there are many opportunities to grow within the group and hopefully there will be available jobs when I have finished high school and I can work full time. You learn so much and it’s fun and exciting to be part of a larger context, even though you work in a smaller hotel. There are also so many different types of people, which is fun. While I work with one of our chefs for example, I get so inspired to learn more about cooking. If they are from another part of the world they often cook local specialties that taste so good.
Do you have any suggestions for someone who would like your role in the restaurant?
Dare to apply! It never hurts to just apply. It is important that you are social, forward, happy and that you enjoy helping others. Dare to ask and be interested in the guests and their hotel stay. These are the most important things I would say!
“It's fun and exciting to be part of a larger context, even though I work at a smaller hotel."
What is the best thing about working in the hotel industry?
I would say that there is so much variety of tasks during the day. You never really know what will happen which is fun! In addition, you get to meet so many people.
What are your dreams and visions for the future?
I will graduate from high school in a few months and hopefully, I will be working full time within Strawberry after that. I would love to continue in the hotel industry or work with people in some sense. I read a lot about the Management Trainee program when I started here and it would be a really exciting program to be part of in the future!
To sum up, what do you think is the best part of working within Strawberry?
It feels great to have a sense of security about being employed in a large established chain. And of course the culture and all the employees, some days it hardly feels like you come to work because you feel so at home! It's a good feeling.
